Ukraine and Denmark are set to deepen their defence cooperation through expanded drone collaboration, joint innovation programmes, and efforts to develop European capabilities against ballistic missiles.

At a meeting in Kyiv between Danish Defence Minister Jeppe Bruus and his Ukrainian counterpart Mykhailo Fedorov, the parties discussed the implementation of the so-called Drone Deal agreement between the two countries. According to Ukraine's Ministry of Defence, the cooperation is intended to provide Ukraine with additional capabilities at the front, while Denmark gains access to Ukrainian battlefield experience, operational data, and defence technology. The parties are also considering launching joint innovation programmes for defence and security companies in both countries.

Another element of the cooperation concerns the development of a European solution against ballistic missiles. Ukraine states that it is seeking support from Denmark and other partner nations to develop shared anti-ballistic capabilities.

In a press release from the Danish Ministry of Defence, Jeppe Bruus states that during his visit he also met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and visited Ukrainian drone operators and companies within the defence industry. The ministers also discussed the strategic defence industry initiative Build With Ukraine, under which Ukrainian defence companies are to establish operations outside Ukraine in order to strengthen supply security and create opportunities for technology transfer and industrial cooperation.

- Ukraine has shown the way, particularly when it comes to innovative thinking and high-technology innovation that can rapidly be translated into large-scale production of cost-effective military capabilities. We should draw inspiration from this and work to establish an equally structured and ambitious cooperation between the Danish Armed Forces, research institutions, and industry, says Jeppe Bruus in the press release.
