The Swedish Navy has loaned two Stridsbåt 90 fast assault craft to the Canadian Armed Forces for evaluation, the navy said. Canadian crews trained on the boats this summer with instructors from the Älvsborg Amphibious Regiment, Amf 4, before the vessels were shipped across the Atlantic.

The loan lets Canada assess how Stridsbåt 90 could meet its own requirements. No decision on a purchase has been announced.

Amf 4 is based in Gothenburg and is one of two regiments in the Swedish Amphibious Corps. It operates Stridsbåt 90 in Sweden's own coastal and littoral operations.

Stridsbåt 90 is built by Saab at its Docksta yard and is marketed internationally as the Combat Boat 90, or CB90.
