Defence Minister Pål Jonson (M) has signed a declaration of intent with the Czech Republic's Defence Minister Jana Černochová to strengthen defence cooperation between the countries. The signing took place in connection with the security conference GLOBSEC Forum.

The enhanced cooperation is expected to contribute to increased collaboration and defence capability for both countries, writes the Ministry of Defence in a press release.

– I am convinced that with this declaration of intent, the defence cooperation between Sweden and the Czech Republic will be further strengthened to the benefit of both parties. I look forward to expanding our relations and seeing concrete results in due course, says Pål Jonson.

According to the press release, the declaration of intent aims to extend the cooperation regarding JAS 39 Gripen beyond 2027, as well as to expand the exchange of experiences and joint training in the use of combat vehicles CV90. The meeting also touched upon European security policy and the Czech Republic's ammunition initiative, as well as continued joint support for Ukraine.
