Yesterday, France's President Emmanuel Macron arrived with a large delegation at the invitation of HM the King. The heads of state visited, among other places, MHS Karlberg together with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M). Earlier in the day, Macron and Kristersson signed a renewed strategic innovation partnership. Sweden and France signed the first partnership for innovation and green solutions in 2017, which was last renewed in 2019.
In a published joint statement, the Prime Minister and the President describe, among other things, a previous framework agreement and cooperation in anti-tank weapons, and that "Sweden and France emphasize their joint willingness to strengthen their capability and develop their cooperation in air surveillance and air defense to meet future air threats."
In today's press release from the Ministry of Defense, they state that Minister of Defense Pål Jonson and Minister of Defense Sébastien Lecornu signed a declaration of intent in connection with the French state visit to Stockholm. This is to further strengthen the cooperation between the countries of Sweden and France.
