The support package is designed to meet Ukraine's needs for, among other things, air defense, artillery, naval equipment, and satellite communication. According to the government, approximately 70 percent of the package's value is expected to be delivered during 2025.
– With this support package, Sweden shows that there is more to be done for Ukraine's sake, said Defense Minister Pål Jonson (M) during the press conference.
The largest single component of the package is the procurement of defense materiel via FMV, valued at approximately 9.2 billion SEK. The materiel will be procured from Swedish, Nordic, and European industry and delivered based on Ukraine's prioritized needs.
The support also includes financial donations to international funds and multilateral initiatives within the framework of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group. These amount to just over 5 billion SEK and include deepened cooperation with Denmark to support the Ukrainian defense industry.
Materiel donations from the Swedish Armed Forces valued at just over 500 million SEK are also included in the support package. Among the transferred equipment are machine guns, training weapons, medical vehicles, airbase equipment, and personal equipment.
Furthermore, the package also includes:
- FOI services for, among other things, CBRN analysis and drone-based vehicle detection, approximately 11 million SEK.
- Innovation and technology development, where FMV is tasked with identifying and financing solutions from smaller technology companies.
- Export credit guarantees for defense exports to Ukraine, 500 million SEK.
- Supply solutions related to previous donations, 573 million SEK.
- A civil defense package valued at 140 million SEK aimed at Swedish authorities working with support efforts in Ukraine.
