- I am proud of our relationship with the Polish Armed Forces and that Saab can continue to contribute to strengthening Poland's ground combat capability and national defense with our world-leading Carl-Gustaf system, says Micael Johansson, Saab's President and CEO, in the company's press release.
Saab is expected to complete the order before the end of the second quarter of 2024. The contract is expected to come into effect before the end of the second quarter of 2024, provided that certain external conditions are met, the company stated.
The announcement comes on the same day that Defense Minister Pål Jonson (M) visits Poland for a meeting with Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense, Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz. The meeting takes place at the airbase in Gdynia in northern Poland.
Poland has recently purchased two surveillance aircraft from Sweden and Saab. The aircraft, of the type Saab 340 AEW, are equipped with the Erieye radar mounted on top of the aircraft fuselage. In connection with the meeting in Gdynia, the first of the two aircraft will be handed over, according to the Ministry of Defense.
