Last week, the agreement was signed by Defence Minister Pål Jonson (M) and Singapore's Defence Minister Dr Ng Eng Hen, updating the existing defence cooperation from 1998. Additionally, Saab and Singapore Technologies Engineering (ST Engineering) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding at DSEI in 2023 to strengthen their long-standing collaboration and jointly explore new markets.

With the new agreement, Saab and DSTA will explore new operational concepts and emerging technologies to enhance maritime security and resilience.
– This expanded MoU builds on the successful collaboration between Saab and DSTA in the maritime domain and reflects our shared commitment to innovation in underwater technology. Together, we will leverage our expertise to enhance maritime security, says Anders Carp, Deputy CEO of Saab, in a press release from Saab.
Roy Chan, Deputy CEO of DSTA, highlights the importance of collaborating with Saab:
– By collaborating with a leading player like Saab, DSTA can push the boundaries of what is possible in underwater defence. Through this expanded MoU, we will further develop advanced solutions that not only meet evolving security needs but also position Singapore at the forefront of maritime innovation, says Chan in the same press release.
