Finnish defence communications company KNL, a subsidiary of Telenor, has been appointed as a supplier under the United Kingdom's framework agreement for tactical communication systems. The company qualifies for both complete systems and components within a framework agreement with an estimated total value of approximately £8 billion.
According to KNL, the company has been appointed to Lot 2, Systems, and Lot 3, Components, within the British Tactical Communication Systems Framework. The framework agreement runs for eight years and allows approved suppliers to participate in future procurements of tactical communication systems for the British defence sector.
"The United Kingdom is one of the world's most important markets in defence and security, and our participation in this framework further strengthens KNL's position as a trusted international partner in the defence sector. We see significant long-term potential in the British market and an opportunity to support British customers with proven communication solutions for demanding operational requirements," says KNL Chief Executive Toni Lindén in a press release from the company.
Nordic Defence Sector reported in August 2025 that the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) and the Finnish Defence Forces (Puolustusvoimat) conducted a joint procurement of radio stations from the company, under the Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO) agreement on joint Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) procurements.
