When Iceland's President Halla Tómasdóttir visited Sweden from May 6–8, several defense-related points were included in the program. Although the state visit was conducted at the invitation of H.M. The King, President Tómasdóttir also met with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) for bilateral discussions at Rosenbad, followed by a joint press conference. According to a press release from the Government Offices, the discussions addressed support for Ukraine, resilience, and expanded trade exchange.

Later that day, the heads of state visited the Coast Guard vessel KBV 313, where the agency demonstrated its maritime surveillance capabilities. Among those present were Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M), Minister for Civil Defense Carl-Oskar Bohlin (M), and the Coast Guard's Director General Lena Lindgren Schelin.

On the second day of the state visit, the presidential couple, together with the Royal Couple, participated in a program at Cybercampus Sweden at the Royal Institute of Technology. The agenda included a panel discussion on cybersecurity with representatives from academia, government agencies, and industry, as well as a demonstration of practical cyberattacks.

Earlier today, Iceland's Foreign Minister Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir met with Swedish ministers Pål Jonson (M) and Carl-Oskar Bohlin. According to a press release from the Ministry of Defense, the parties signed a declaration on deepened defense cooperation between Sweden and Iceland. The new agreement, which replaces a previous declaration from 2021, includes support for Ukraine, Nordic-Baltic cooperation, and total defense.
