France Introduces Systematic's Command Support

The French Army has decided to implement the Danish company Systematic's command system SitaWare Headquarters across the entire defence branch. The system will serve as the primary tool for coordination and planning at division and brigade headquarters.

– France plays a key role in Europe's defence at a time when the security situation is more unpredictable than ever. The increasing threats to the continent's stability require strong, decisive allies, says Nikolaj Bramsen, CEO of Systematic.

The decision follows an evaluation where the system was assessed to meet the operational requirements of the army and NATO, according to a press release from Systematic. The French Army's 3rd Division has already acquired the solution, and the procurement is part of a broader initiative where France is now implementing the system for the entire army. According to Systematic, the software will serve as the central platform for conducting operations.

The acquisition comes in the wake of NATO selecting the SitaWare solution for its land operations in April 2024, according to the press release. By using the same system as the alliance, the French 3rd Division gains a common operational picture and enhanced capability for collaboration. This is described as a crucial part of the division's role in NATO's Allied Reaction Force (ARF).

The system has already been operationally utilised during two major military exercises. During NATO's winter exercise Steadfast Dagger 2025, the 3rd Division acted as the command for the land combat forces. At the same time, the 1st Division used the system during the national exercise Small Joint Operation 25 (SJO25), which focused on cyber threats and satellite communication.

– The 1st Division was particularly pleased to join the community of NATO countries that are satisfied users of SitaWare, says Colonel Thibault Kossahl, Chief of Staff of the 1st Division.

The collaboration is described as a strategic step in the digitalisation of the French Army. Systematic argues that the system's interoperability ensures that France can be fully integrated into NATO's command structure and coordinate efforts with allied forces in real-time.
