The new helmet offers better ballistic protection and is also lighter. The helmet system has a mount for image intensifiers and can also integrate ear protection and communication equipment.
The first call-off for the helmets is made through a framework agreement procured by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency, NSPA. Galvion was awarded the framework agreement in December 2022. The first order has been placed via NSPA on their e-commerce portal NATO Logistic Stock Exchange, NLSE, writes FMV.
Galvion states in a press release on November 15 that they have received substantial orders totaling 80,000 helmets from Norway, Finland, and Sweden through the NSPA agreement. Deliveries are expected over the next 18 months, and the first helmets have already arrived in Norway. Norway, as the lead user nation, has conducted tests and evaluations together with NSPA.
