Sweden has received its first Amfbro 400, an amphibious bridge and ferry system from General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS). During a ceremony in Kaiserslautern, Germany, the system was handed over to the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), which will now commence testing and training before transferring it to the Swedish Armed Forces (Försvarsmakten) in the spring.

– Now FMV will review the documentation and, among other things, conduct the industry's instructor course before we hand over the first vehicle to the Swedish Armed Forces in the spring. This is to enable, among other things, the validation of the system, says Anders Salwén, project manager at the field operations unit within FMV's Army division, in the agency's press release.

The system is set to enhance Sweden's and NATO's capacity for rapid deployments and enable secure transport across waterways. During the period 2025–2027, the Swedish Armed Forces will have access to the entire system fleet.

FMV signed the original agreement with GDELS in 2022 and has since expanded the orders. In September 2024, an additional nine systems were ordered, for approximately 470 million kronor. In total, Sweden has ordered 18 systems.
