Teledyne Gavia has announced that the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has placed a follow-on order for additional modular autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) systems. The company states this in a press release.

The press release does not specify the number of vehicles ordered by FMV, but states that the order covers the company's AUV systems and modules. The contract is reported to have been signed at the Navy Tech conference in Gothenburg (western Sweden) earlier this year, and the company describes how the new systems will strengthen the Swedish Armed Forces' underwater capability.

"We appreciate the continued confidence shown by FMV and the Swedish Armed Forces. This follow-on order confirms the value of Gavia's modular design and proven performance, and we are proud to continue supporting Sweden's operational underwater capability," said Stefán Reynisson, Deputy CEO and General Manager of Teledyne Gavia.

The company further states that the systems can currently be used for tasks including explosive ordnance disposal (EOD), with the ability to be adapted for additional mission profiles, such as reconnaissance of critical underwater infrastructure.

FMV and Teledyne Gavia entered into a framework agreement in February 2025. The value of the framework agreement was stated to be 190 million Swedish kronor, and it runs until 2028 with an option to extend. The agreement can be utilised for call-off orders by FMV and the Swedish Armed Forces.

"It is an autonomous vehicle with capabilities that enable rapid mapping and production of high-resolution sonar images of the seabed, as well as detection of various types of objects," said FMV at the time.
