Ukrainian medical personnel from the front line are in Denmark to exchange experiences from the modern battlefield. This involves a rehabilitation and knowledge exchange for about 100 Ukrainians, supported by the Danish Ministry of Defence with two million kroner.
– We are here to share experiences and learn from each other. The Ukrainian medical soldiers and healthcare personnel from the front line have gained significant experience under extreme conditions and from complex war injuries, and that knowledge is valuable – even for Denmark, says Klaus Sørensen, head of the Centre for Health and Medical Education at the Danish Defence Medical Command.
According to a press release from the Danish Armed Forces, the Ukrainians are meeting about 15 combat medics from the 2nd Medical Company at the Logistics Regiment as well as military doctors. The meeting is part of a longer stay of 10–14 days for the Ukrainian specialists.
The stay is organised by the Ukrainian organisation Repower in collaboration with the Danish organisation KOLO Nordic. The initiative provides the personnel with a break from the fighting while exchanging medical experiences and psychological tools. The Nordic Defence Sector (NDS) has previously interviewed and written about Repower in an article series in connection with the organisation's visit to Sweden.
The Danish Armed Forces have collaborated with Repower since 2024 to gather knowledge about modern warfare and emergency war medicine. The cross-cutting collaboration is described as an important component for strengthening operational readiness and developing national capabilities.
