Karlskoga, Sweden - 21 October - BAE Systems has been awarded a contract by the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for the delivery of four Bofors 57Mk3 naval gun systems together with Bofors 57mm 3P (Pre-fragmented, Programmable, Proximity-fuzed) ammunition.
"This contract reinforces our long-standing role as a trusted partner to the Swedish Armed Forces and FMV, and our commitment to supporting the Swedish Navy with world-class capability," said Stefan Löfström, Marketing & Sales Director at BAE Systems Bofors. "It demonstrates Sweden's confidence in the Bofors 57Mk3 and its advanced 3P ammunition as key capabilities for maritime defence."
The Bofors 57Mk3 is a fully automatic, multi-role naval gun system designed to support air defence, anti-surface warfare and naval fire support missions. Combined with the programmable 57mm 3P ammunition, it enables effective engagement of a broad range of threats, including drones, loitering munitions, aircraft, missiles and fast attack craft.
The contract further strengthens the long-standing partnership between BAE Systems Bofors, FMV and the Swedish Navy, supporting the continued enhancement of Sweden's maritime defence capability in an increasingly complex threat environment.
