The Swedish Armed Forces (Försvarsmakten) are now inviting the public to propose names for the Air Force's new radar and command aircraft S 106. The competition runs until 5 January 2026.
According to the Swedish Armed Forces, the jury, which includes the Chief of the Air Force and commanders of the units that will use the system, will select the winning entry. The new system replaces the S 100 Argus, which was named after the giant Argus in Greek mythology. According to the myth, Argus had a thousand eyes, of which at least one was always awake.
S 106 is the Swedish designation for the GlobalEye radar surveillance aircraft from Saab.
– GlobalEye is referred to as S 106 in the Swedish Armed Forces. But of course, we need a name to call it by. What is your suggestion? A nice prize is promised. The jury will naturally consist of military units, writes Air Force Chief Jonas Wikman on X.
Suggestions should be sent via email to FS-S106-namntavling@mil.se by 5 January 2026.
