- John Billow has been appointed as the new head of the National Cybersecurity Centre (NCSC), taking up the post on 1 September 2025. The NCSC has been part of the National Defence Radio Establishment (FRA) since 1 November 2024 and is to be developed into a hub for Swedish cybersecurity. Read more

- Sweden and Ukraine signed a statement of intent on joint production of defence materiel on 23 August in Kyiv. The agreement was signed by Defence Minister Pål Jonson and Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, and aims to combine Sweden's industrial base with Ukrainian innovation in areas including autonomous systems, electronic warfare, and software development. - The Swedish Government has tasked the Swedish Armed Forces (Försvarsmakten) with offering NATO the opportunity to establish a Joint Logistics Support Group Headquarters in Enköping (central Sweden). The headquarters is planned to be operational by the end of 2027, staffed by approximately 70 personnel in peacetime and capable of expanding to 160 at heightened readiness. - The Civil Defence and Resilience Agency (MSB) will be renamed the Agency for Civil Defence (Myndigheten för civilt försvar) on 1 January 2026, and will simultaneously introduce a heraldic coat of arms. The name change is intended to reflect the need for unified command and coordination of civil defence across the country. Read more
- From the autumn term of 2025, teaching about Sweden's Total Defence (totalförsvar) will become a compulsory element of upper secondary civics education. The programme Together We Are the Total Defence affects approximately 400,000 pupils and can be completed digitally in two hours or in a teacher-led format over four hours. Read more
- The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) is appointing three new heads: Björn Myrberg will become Finance Director from 1 October, Carl-Fredrik Edström will take over the aviation and space business area from 1 September, and Tommy Petersson has taken up the post of Head of Test and Evaluation since 1 August. - Saab is acquiring Deform in Degerfors (central Sweden) to strengthen supply security within the Swedish defence industry. Deform is a key supplier in the production of the Blekinge-class submarines and delivers specially processed components to the Kockums supply chain. Operations will continue under the same name. - Roshel and Swebor have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to establish Canada's first facility dedicated to the production of ballistic steel. The partnership aims to strengthen supply security and reduce dependencies in supply chains. Read more
- Expando is participating in Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) Industry Days and is presenting its solutions at the intersection of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and customised technology. The company has recently delivered a small form-factor telemetry computer with high I/O density, FPGA support, and USB 3.0 with MIL connectors, and has over 25 years of experience in defence and space.
