VTT and Millog have signed a cooperation agreement to enhance innovation capacity within the defence sector and increase collaboration between critical societal actors. The agreement was signed on 7 November by Kalle Härkki, CEO of VTT, and Janne Tarvainen, CEO of Millog.
– The agreement confirms our ambition to support the rapid development and implementation of new technologies by combining VTT's research expertise with Millog's defence materiel knowledge and industry network, says Janne Tarvainen, CEO of Millog.
According to a joint press release, the cooperation will support research, development, and innovation in the defence area both nationally and internationally. The parties state that the goal is to develop solutions that enhance societal security and enable the rapid application of new technology and dual-use solutions in defence contexts. The agreement is expected to provide the Finnish Defence Forces (Puolustusvoimat) with access to a broad civilian supplier network and strengthen the development of operational capabilities.
Both VTT and Millog are already active in several domestic and international defence networks and ecosystems. The new agreement aims to improve innovation efforts within these structures.
– Together, we strengthen national capability and intensify cooperation across the entire industry, says Kalle Härkki, CEO of the state-owned research institute VTT.
