The couple was arrested and detained on 17 October in the Stockholm area following an operation by the Security Service. Both the man and the woman were detained from October to December 2023 when the detention was lifted.
– The preliminary investigation against the man has been closed today. The preliminary investigation against the woman who was detained at the same time suspected of the same crime is still ongoing, says senior prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist at the National Security Unit.
The Public Prosecutor's Office writes that senior prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist and chief prosecutor Per Lindqvist do not provide any further comments on the matter, citing that "the preliminary investigation is ongoing and is covered by confidentiality".
Mats Ljungqvist and Per Lindqvist are the same prosecutors who handled the case with the convicted spy brothers Peyman and Payam Kia.
Update at 14:33 The Swedish Defence University writes in a press release that "[t]he employee is still employed and on duty at the Swedish Defence University since the detention was lifted on 13 December 2023."
