BAE Systems Bofors, together with four other defense companies, has been awarded a contract by the US Army to participate in a demonstration for the procurement of new self-propelled artillery systems under the Self-Propelled Howitzer Modernization (SPH-M) program, according to a press release from the defense branch.

In addition to BAE Systems Bofors, American Rheinmetall Vehicles, Hanwha Defense USA, General Dynamics Land Systems, and Elbit Systems USA will also participate. The total order value allocated to the companies for participation amounts to four million dollars. The evaluation is set to begin in November 2024.

– The demonstration will support the Army's transition from development to procurement of a mature and available system, says Program Manager Major General Glenn Dean in the press release.

Bofors also presented the Archer system in BAE's booth at the US Army's defense exhibition AUSA in Washington DC last week. This year, AUSA gathered over 30,000 participants and 700 exhibitors.
