With today's signing, the countries become the sixth and seventh members of the CAVS program, which already includes Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Germany, and Denmark. According to Patria, this is an important milestone for the collaboration.
– As Europe's security needs grow, multinational collaborations become increasingly important. We welcome both the United Kingdom and Norway to the CAVS program, which now consists of seven member countries. It strengthens interoperability, interchangeability, and supply security among allies, says Esa Rautalinko, CEO of Patria.
The CAVS program aims to jointly develop and introduce a modern, versatile 6x6 vehicle system for protected troop transport. The program is based on the principle of cost-sharing and a common supply structure. It is led by the Finnish state with Patria as the main supplier.
– By utilizing the member countries' local industrial capacity, we can ensure maintenance and repairs even in crisis situations. At the same time, lead times for deliveries are significantly reduced, says Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President, Protected Mobility, Patria.
In addition to today's agreement, the process includes two further steps: a Research and Development Agreement (R&D Agreement) and a Framework Agreement, both signed by Patria, the Finnish state, and the respective customer country. Thereafter, orders are made directly from the customer to Patria.
Patria has so far received orders for nearly 1,000 vehicles under the CAVS framework and has delivered over 250.
