A month ago, a delegation from the Swedish Defence University visited Ukraine to learn how officer training is conducted during wartime. Discussions were held on how Ukrainian educational institutions could collaborate with the Swedish Defence University in military education and research. Furthermore, strategic leadership programmes for military and civilian leaders within Ukraine's total defence and additional collaborations in research and education were discussed. Additionally, the delegation also met with Research Director Katarina Wilhelmsen and International Director Mårten Sundmark from the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI).
– It is years of cooperation with Ukraine that are now developing and intensifying. By meeting in both Kyiv and Stockholm, and by signing cooperation agreements at various levels, we are also building relationships that enable concrete and important collaborations in both education and research. We have a lot to learn from each other and see these early concrete collaborations as the beginning of a long-term commitment to Ukraine's future and integration into the European and transatlantic community, says Robert Egnell, Rector of the Swedish Defence University.
Among those participating in the visit were the Rector, Vice-Rector, Dean of the Swedish Defence University, as well as Lt Col Peter Lidén, who was previously Sweden's Defence Attaché in Ukraine but is now a lecturer at the Swedish Defence University.
A complete list of participants can be found on the Swedish Defence University's website.
