Milrem Robotics will deliver over 150 unmanned ground vehicles (UGV) of the THeMIS model to Ukraine. The delivery is part of a Dutch donation initiative, announced yesterday during a ceremony at VDL's facility in Born, Netherlands.
VDL Defentec, a partner in the project, will be responsible for the final assembly of the vehicles in a newly established production line in Born. Milrem will provide training for Ukrainian operators and technical personnel to ensure effective use and maintenance in the field.
– We are honoured to lead this project together with the Netherlands and VDL. THeMIS has already proven its value in combat, and we believe this contribution will significantly strengthen Ukraine's defence capability, says Milrem's CEO Kuldar Väärsi in a press release.
According to Milrem, the units complement the 15 THeMIS vehicles already in use in Ukraine since 2022. The platform is used for logistics, reconnaissance, and fire support, among other things.
– This initiative demonstrates the strength of cooperation within the European defence industry. It directly contributes to international security while simultaneously laying a foundation for continued innovation and production between Milrem and VDL, says Willem van der Leegte, CEO of VDL Groep.
