Two individuals have been detained on suspicion of gross unauthorised handling of classified information. The individuals were apprehended and detained on Tuesday morning in the Stockholm area (Sweden) following an operation by the Swedish Security Service (Säkerhetspolisen), according to press releases from the Swedish Prosecution Authority and the Swedish Security Service.

The case is being handled by the Swedish Security Service under the direction of prosecutors from the National Security Unit. The preliminary investigation is led by prosecutors Per Lindqvist and Mats Ljungqvist, writes the Swedish Prosecution Authority. According to the Swedish Security Service's press release, there are currently no links to previous cases.

According to SVT, the first individual was apprehended at 05:45, and the second two hours later. Both arrests took place in the Stockholm area under the direction of the Swedish Security Service. The suspects have now been detained and are being interrogated by the police.

– We have conducted an operation where two individuals have been apprehended on probable cause suspected of gross unauthorised handling of classified information. The operation took place in the Greater Stockholm area, says Fredrik Hultgren-Friberg, spokesperson for the Swedish Security Service, to SVT.

The Swedish Security Service does not wish to disclose whether the apprehended individuals are Swedish or foreign nationals.

– It was an operation carried out calmly, and in connection with these arrests, searches were also conducted at several locations where seizures have been made, which we are reviewing, says Fredrik Hultgren-Friberg to SVT.
