Foreign Minister Tobias Billström (M) is stepping down as minister and member of parliament, he writes on X (formerly Twitter). Billström further writes that he will leave politics entirely but "looks forward to contributing and working hard in other contexts where my commitment will be put to good use."

– It is with a mixture of sadness and pride that I have today informed the Prime Minister that I will be leaving the post of Foreign Minister in connection with the opening of parliament on Tuesday, he writes in the post and continues:

– It has not been an easy decision but something I have thought about and processed for some time.

Tobias Billström became a member of parliament in 2002 and served in both of Reinfeldt's governments from 2006 to 2014. From 2014 to 2022, he was the first deputy speaker of parliament and thereafter the group leader for the Moderate Party's parliamentary group.
