The Swedish Conscription Agency Calls 2007 Cohort for Muster
The Swedish Conscription and Assessment Agency is calling 28,184 youths born in 2007 for muster between May 2025 and April 2026. Approximately 9,000 of these are expected to undergo basic military training with conscription during 2026–2027.
In January, conscription materials were sent out to just over 110,000 youths, of which approximately 98 percent responded to the materials. Those who have now been notified that they will be conscripted will be called to one of the Recruitment Agency's testing centers in Stockholm, Malmö, or Gothenburg.
– The main purpose of the basic training is to fill the wartime organization with trained and practiced personnel. After completing basic training, one is assigned a wartime position, which entails an obligation to undergo refresher training and to serve in the wartime organization if the government decides on it, says Peter Göthe, Director General of the Swedish Defence Recruitment Agency.
Approximately 9,000 youths are expected to undergo basic training with conscription during 2026–2027. The training lasts between nine and fifteen months and is conducted at the Swedish Armed Forces' units around Sweden. The first training start for youths born in 2007 is planned for the summer of 2026.
