The Swedish Armed Forces and the Swedish Transport Administration have signed a framework agreement to improve Sweden's transport infrastructure and increase the efficiency of military mobility. The agreement, signed on 15 August, is an important step in the coordination between the authorities to meet both national and NATO-related requirements, the authorities state in press releases.

The cooperation between the Swedish Armed Forces and the Swedish Transport Administration covers several areas, including military mobility, infrastructure planning, information sharing, and security services. The goal is to enhance Sweden's ability to manage military and civilian transports under various readiness levels, which also strengthens the country's capacity as a NATO ally, they write.

The agreement also emphasises the importance of rebuilding civilian preparedness as part of the society's regular operations. The Swedish Transport Administration plays a central role in the development of the transport sector within total defence, which includes the ability to support NATO forces if needed.
