The Navy takes a significant step forward by establishing two new naval units. On Monday, 2 October, establishment ceremonies for the first and second Naval Base Battalion will be held at the Naval Base in Karlskrona and the Stockholm Amphibious Regiment in Berga, respectively. This is announced in a press release from the Swedish Armed Forces.

The main purpose of the naval base battalions is to secure and deliver logistical support to naval combat units, wherever they are located and whenever the need arises. These battalions are composed of logistical components from all naval units, enabling extensive and in-depth expertise and experience, the authority writes.

At the establishment ceremony at the Stockholm Amphibious Regiment, the Chief of Navy, Rear Admiral Ewa Skoog Haslum, will be present. Also in attendance are the Deputy Chief of Defence Staff, Rear Admiral Jens Nykvist, the Commander of the Stockholm Amphibious Regiment, Colonel Adam Camél, and the Battalion Commander of the 2nd Naval Base Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Fors.

At the establishment ceremony at the Karlskrona Garrison, the Deputy Chief of Navy, Brigadier General Patrik Gardesten, will participate along with the Unit Commander, Captain Fredrik Edwardson, and the Battalion Commander of the 1st Naval Base Battalion, Commander Mathias Jansson.
