At the establishment ceremony at the Stockholm Amphibious Regiment, the Chief of the Navy, Rear Admiral Ewa Skoog Haslum, was present. Also in attendance were the Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff, Rear Admiral Jens Nykvist, the Commander of the Stockholm Amphibious Regiment, Colonel Adam Camél, and the Battalion Commander of the 2nd Naval Base Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Fors, according to a press release from the Swedish Armed Forces on 25 September.
At the establishment ceremony at the Karlskrona Garrison, the Deputy Chief of the Navy, Brigadier General Patrik Gardesten, participated along with the Unit Commander, Commander Fredrik Edwardson, and the Battalion Commander of the 1st Naval Base Battalion, Commander Captain Mathias Jansson, according to the same release.
The Navy Band was also present in Karlskrona and performed for the first time the newly composed march "Navy Base Service March," which is composed by the band's orchestra librarian, Björn Ericsson.
The naval base battalions have been assembled from logistical components of all naval units to create the broad yet deep knowledge and experience required. The new military units represent a significant growth in naval logistics as the personnel strength is set to double and more suitable equipment is introduced, the Navy writes in a post on Facebook.
