Terma and Kongsberg Aviation Maintenance Services (KAMS) have launched Defence Aviation Services. The Danish-Norwegian joint company will provide maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) for military aircraft, with its capabilities being built in Denmark.
The launch was marked on 21 October at the Norwegian ambassador’s residence in Copenhagen, Kongsberg said. The announcement names no contracts and gives no ownership split or financial figures.
Terma has long experience supporting the Danish armed forces. KAMS has decades of MRO work on Norwegian military fleets. These include the F-35, P-8, F-16, helicopters and aircraft engines.
— Through Defence Aviation Services we can take on more maintenance work and free up military personnel for operational tasks, says acting CEO Oscar Cosman Brøndum.
— The ambition with Defence Aviation Services is bigger than creating extra maintenance capacity. We are building a long-term Nordic support capability around common military platforms, says Terma CEO Henriette Hallberg Thygesen.
The two companies signed a teaming agreement on Danish military aviation maintenance in August 2024.
