Terma A/S and Airbus Helicopters have signed a letter of intent to expand their industrial cooperation, with particular focus on maintenance capacity for Denmark's armed forces.
In a press release on 19 August, Terma announced that the parties had signed the letter of intent, which covers four areas of cooperation: manufacturing of composite and metal parts, integration of Terma's electronic warfare systems, research and technology development, and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services.
A key part of the agreement concerns localised maintenance, repair and overhaul capacity for the Danish Defence. The parties will explore opportunities to carry out maintenance, repair and overhaul services, as well as technician training, through the newly established joint venture between Terma and Kongsberg Aviation Maintenance Services. The joint venture, described as Nordic in scope, is intended, according to Terma, to function as a national industrial maintenance hub and help Denmark build an independent domestic support system for helicopters.
