Over 50 Swedish Home Guard soldiers recently participated in Latvia's largest national defense exercise, Namejs 2025, writes the Swedish Armed Forces in a press release.

The Swedish soldiers came from the 26th Home Guard Battalion, also known as the Ulvsunda Battalion, and were integrated into Latvia's 1st Riga Brigade. During the exercise, they participated in activities such as urban environment patrolling, infrastructure surveillance, weapons system training, and various demonstration elements.

– We have a good cooperation as allies and have learned a lot from each other. The Latvians are particularly good at perceiving threats as they are located on NATO's eastern flank, says Platoon Leader Robert in the press release.

The exercise gathered a total of over 12,000 participants from both military and civilian actors. For Sweden, the effort is part of the established cooperation between the Central Military Region and Latvia's 1st Riga Brigade, aimed at strengthening experience exchange and joint working methods.

National Home Guard Chief Major General Laura Swaan Wrede visited the exercise and emphasized the importance of international cooperation:

– By exercising and coordinating the Home Guard's activities with other nations' territorial units, we build a stronger capability together.
