The bilateral exercise Archipelago Endeavor (AE25) commenced this week in the Stockholm archipelago, reports the Swedish Armed Forces. The exercise is being conducted for the seventh consecutive year and involves approximately 500 participants from Swedish amphibious units and the United States Marine Corps.

The aim is to develop joint capabilities in amphibious warfare in an archipelago environment. From the Swedish side, the 2nd Amphibious Battalion and the 2nd Naval Base Battalion are participating, while the USA contributes units from the Marine Rotational Force – Europe.

– The exercise strengthens both our bilateral cooperation with the USA and NATO's ability to perform tasks in the archipelago environment and the Baltic Sea area, says Navy Chief Johan Norlén according to the Swedish Armed Forces.

AE25 runs from the end of August to mid-September in the areas around Berga, Utö, Korsö, and Yttra Hamnskär.
