Sweden's Army Chief, Major General Jonny Lindfors, has visited the multinational NATO unit NRDC-ITA in Solbiate Olona, just north of Milan. NRDC-ITA is a high-readiness unit with Italy as the framework nation and is staffed by personnel from several NATO countries. It can be rapidly deployed to lead ground operations both within and outside NATO's area, under the command of NATO, the EU, or a coalition.

During the visit, Lindfors was received by the unit's commander, Lieutenant General Gianluca Carai. According to NRDC-ITA, discussions were held on the headquarters' role as the command for the Allied Reaction Force, a task force with the mission to contribute to deterrence, crisis management, and international cooperation within the framework of NATO.

Lindfors also met with Swedish representatives at the headquarters, where Sweden already has personnel stationed. The visit is described by NRDC-ITA as a step to further deepen the ties between Sweden and NATO, particularly after the unit participated in an exercise on Gotland together with Swedish units in July.
