The government today, Friday, 24 February, presented a new comprehensive support package for Ukraine. According to the government's website, the package includes subsystems for the HAWK air defence system (Eldenhet 97), as well as crucial components for the IRIS-T (Eldenhet 98) in collaboration with Germany. Sweden also intends to contribute up to 10 Leopard 2 tanks (Stridsvagn 122).

The war in Ukraine today enters its second year, and the government states on its website that the need for military support to Ukraine remains significant. In this support package, which is the 11th in order, the government plans to donate materiel that is high on Ukraine's list of requested support. Ukraine has indicated that systems for air defence, long-range precision engagement, and various types of combat vehicles and tanks are particularly urgent. Therefore, the government intends to donate parts of the HAWK air defence systems (Eldenhet 97). In addition to this, Sweden intends, in collaboration with Germany, to ensure that Ukraine can access additional IRIS-T air defence systems, with Sweden contributing essential components. To further strengthen Ukraine's defence, the government, following parliamentary authorisation, intends to donate up to 10 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. The Swedish tanks will reinforce the contribution of Leopard 2 tanks that other European countries are providing. Coordination of the support is ongoing with international partners donating Leopard 2 or other tanks.
