Sweden Orders 94 Additional Armoured Vehicles from Patria
Sweden has ordered 94 new armoured vehicles of the Patria 6x6 type for 1.5 billion kronor. A total of 415 vehicles are now to be delivered between 2025 and 2030.
The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has been tasked by the Swedish Armed Forces (Försvarsmakten) to order an additional 94 vehicles of the Patria 6x6 type. The order includes troop transport, command, and medical transport variants and is valued at approximately 1.5 billion kronor.
The Armoured Personnel Carrier 300 is the Swedish designation for the Patria 6x6, which is developed and procured within the framework of the multinational cooperation Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS). In addition to Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Denmark, Norway, Germany, and the United Kingdom participate in the programme.
With the additional order, a total of 415 vehicles will be delivered to the Swedish Armed Forces during the period 2025–2030. In 2024, 321 vehicles were ordered, and so far 14 vehicles have been delivered, in addition to a pre-series of 20 vehicles that have been in use by the Swedish Armed Forces for one and a half years.
– The Swedish Armed Forces have trained and evaluated the system for one and a half years and are very satisfied. With the effect systems such as the weapon station and smoke system that we have already delivered, we now achieve full capability, says Håkan Larsson, project manager at FMV.
According to the supplier Patria, the Swedish order signifies continued confidence in both the vehicle and the international cooperation:
