Sweden has delivered specialised equipment for the maintenance of military airfields to Ukraine. According to Ukraine's Ministry of Defence, the equipment is intended to strengthen the operation of Ukrainian air bases and enable combat aircraft to operate under various weather conditions.

Ukraine's Ministry of Defence states that the equipment will enable faster maintenance of runways and keep airfields operational around the clock. The delivery is also described as important for flight safety during take-off and landing, as well as for maintaining continuous flight operations.

In a statement, Ukraine's Ministry of Defence thanks the Swedish government, the Swedish Ministry of Defence, and industrial partners for their support.

According to Ukraine's Ministry of Defence, preparations are also under way for contracts covering the delivery of JAS 39 Gripen fighter aircraft to Ukraine. The matter was discussed at a meeting between Ukraine's Minister of Defence Mykhailo Fedorov and Sweden's Minister of Defence Pål Jonson.

The ministry also states that Sweden is preparing one of its largest support packages to Ukraine to date. The package is expected to include air defence systems, Saab-manufactured radar systems, and support for Ukraine's defence industry in the areas of electronic warfare and drone systems.
