Sweden's Supreme Commander Michael Claesson received France's Chief of Defence, General Fabien Mandon, for a visit to Norrbotten (northern Sweden) at the end of last week. This is reported in a publication from the Swedish Armed Forces.
According to the Swedish Armed Forces, the visit included I 19 Norrbotten Regiment, A 8 Norrbotten Artillery Regiment, and F 21 Norrbotten Air Wing. The Swedish Armed Forces state that the purpose was to deepen the relationship between the countries' armed forces and to strengthen cooperation bilaterally as well as within NATO and in European and international frameworks.
– "The relations between Sweden and France are deep and built on long-term trust," says Michael Claesson in the publication.
The Swedish Armed Forces report that Sweden's Arctic capability was a focus during the visit and that the space domain was also an important part of the discussions. According to the publication, France has expressed interest in space issues and opportunities for joint research and development.
