After a period of expressed dissatisfaction among the Armed Forces' pilots regarding pension agreements and salaries, more and more began applying for leave for studies. Last autumn, about 40 applied for leave. After long negotiations, two new collective agreements were established, which Defence Sector News previously reported on. Now the new agreements seem to have had an effect.
– We have started getting back pilots who applied for leave for studies, and they are back in their divisions, says Dennis Hedström, head of the Air Staff in Uppsala to SVT.
He does not want to specify how many fighter pilots are involved, but according to the chairman of the Defence Pilots' interest organisation, most of those who applied for leave will return, writes SVT.
Per-Martin Sternevi, chairman of the Defence Pilots' interest organisation, tells SVT that:
– Those I have spoken to are coming back and think the agreement is good enough now. We had up to 40 leave applications before the autumn, plus we have about ten who have started studying, so it involves about 50 pilots, says Per-Martin Sternevi.
He continues:
– In this case, it has not been a threat but rather individuals who have actually grown tired and wanted to leave, so this has been a real problem, says Per Martin Sternevi.
