Sweden strengthens cooperation with US Space Force as part of the country's effort to develop military space capabilities. General Chance Saltzman from the US Space Force recently visited Sweden, where he discussed the cooperation with representatives from the Swedish Armed Forces.

According to the Swedish Armed Forces' press release, Sweden and the USA are part of an agreement to exchange space-related information. General Saltzman's visit included a tour of Esrange in Kiruna, where he, along with the Swedish Armed Forces' space chief, Colonel Dr. Ella Carlsson, and the Air Force Chief, Major General Jonas Wikman, discussed Sweden's role in the growing military cooperation.

Saltzman emphasized that Sweden is an important partner in space cooperation and stressed that "the only way we can truly manage this is as part of a coalition, moving in the same direction."

Major General Jonas Wikman highlighted Esrange as an important strategic resource for Sweden and its allies. In connection with this, he referred to the Ministry of Defense's recently published space strategy, where Esrange's capability to launch satellites is highlighted as support for allies' access to space.
