The government states that Defence Minister Pål Jonsson signed an agreement on closer European cooperation and coordination on air defence capability within NATO as the second day of the NATO defence ministers' meeting commenced. The meeting took place on 14-15 February.
The European Sky Shield Initiative (ESSI) is a German initiative for closer European cooperation aimed at strengthening NATO's Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD). The German initiative aims at increased procurement, capability development, and simplified acquisition.
