Svekon has been awarded a framework agreement by the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for the delivery of packrafts to the Swedish Armed Forces (Försvarsmakten). The agreement covers up to 3,000 packrafts, which will replace older kayaks and smaller inflatable boats.

According to a press release from Svekon, the agreement covers three types of packrafts for one or two persons, as well as associated equipment. A packraft is described as a lightweight and compact inflatable boat that can be carried in the user's pack and used to cross lakes, waterways, and other water obstacles.

"Packrafts are a simple but highly effective tool for increasing mobility and endurance in terrain where water presents a natural obstacle. The combination of low weight, small pack volume, and good manoeuvrability makes the system particularly useful when flexibility and low logistical burden are critical. We are proud to contribute, together with Fjord Defence Marine, to strengthening operational capability," says Staffan Razavi, project owner at Svekon, in the company's press release.

The framework agreement runs for three years, with options to extend by a further two plus two years, giving a maximum contract duration of seven years. The agreement also includes options for accessories, consumables, and spare parts.
