The Danish Export and Investment Fund (EIFO) has, for the first time, granted a state investment guarantee for a Danish corporate investment in the Ukrainian defence industry. The guarantee covers 70 percent of an investment of 12 million Danish kroner to "scale up the production of electronic drone defence equipment."

The investment is made by a Danish entrepreneur who has chosen to remain anonymous for security reasons. The aim is to scale up the Ukrainian production of technology to meet the increased need for protection against drones, while the solutions can eventually be further developed for both Danish and European use.

– The investment gives us the opportunity to further develop our products and prepare them for the European market, says the company's CEO in the press release.

EIFO's guarantee is valid for seven years and is part of a state programme totalling one billion Danish kroner established in April 2025. The purpose is to reduce the financial risk for Danish companies investing in defence-related activities in Ukraine. The guarantee can be used by both small and large companies investing in the development, production, or distribution of defence technology.

According to EIFO's CEO Peder Lundquist, the scheme is intended to enable more Danish actors to engage in the Ukrainian defence industry. Denmark's Minister for Industry, Morten Bødskov, also welcomes the announcement and sees it as an expression of continued Danish solidarity with Ukraine:

– This shows that Danish companies are ready to support Ukraine when it really matters. We are not only helping with technology but also with capabilities that can make a difference on the battlefield, says Bødskov.

According to EIFO, the guarantee programme is designed to be used for investments in both existing Ukrainian companies and start-ups within the defence or security sector. The aim is to promote innovation, cooperation, and increased resilience in both countries.
