Danish Seasight Solutions and German STARK are to establish Nordic production of the uncrewed surface vessel Vanta at Seasight's facility in Ringkøbing (western Denmark). Production of the first vessel is scheduled to begin in October 2026, according to the companies.
"Denmark's position at the entrance to the Baltic Sea makes the country central to regional security, including the monitoring of Russia's so-called shadow fleet and other potential threats. By combining existing Danish maritime industrial capacity with STARK's technology for uncrewed systems, we are strengthening the maritime situational picture," says Johannes Arlt, Nordic Head at STARK, in a press release seen by NDS.
Vanta is a waterjet-powered uncrewed surface vessel (USV) intended for intelligence gathering, surveillance and reconnaissance, as well as maritime strike capability. The platform is designed to provide real-time situational data both above and below the water's surface and, according to STARK, can be used as part of a layered defence of ports.
The vessel reportedly has a range of up to 900 nautical miles at low speed. It is designed for continuous patrolling as well as missions in which potential threats are independently detected and tracked. Upon detection, Vanta can either relay sensor data or deploy a kinetic effector system.
According to the companies, Vanta will be Denmark's first uncrewed maritime platform designed from the outset to integrate and employ weapon systems. Production is being established in response to stated interest from countries in the Baltic Sea region and demand for short delivery times.
The partnership is also part of STARK's continued expansion in the Nordic region. The company opened a development and engineering centre in Stockholm (Sweden) in March 2026 and already cooperates with other Nordic defence technology companies.
Danish production is also expected to contribute to the expansion of STARK's Baltic Shadow Initiative. The initiative uses autonomous maritime systems to help NATO countries monitor suspicious activity, protect critical infrastructure and counter hybrid threats in the Baltic Sea.
Seasight Solutions is part of the family-owned Seasight Group, which has been in operation for 75 years. The company has supplied equipment to the Danish Defence since 1992 and states that its operations in Ringkøbing can be scaled up for the production of uncrewed systems.
