SOFF and Amyna Initiate Innovation Collaboration
The Swedish Security and Defence Industry Association (SOFF) and Amyna at Ideon Science Park are initiating a collaboration to facilitate startups, including by connecting established companies and innovative firms early in the development process. The goal is to create new business opportunities and adapt technical solutions to the industry's requirements from the outset.
The Swedish Security and Defence Industry Association (SOFF) and the innovation platform Amyna are initiating a collaboration to strengthen the development of new technology within the defence and security sector.
– There is no shortage of innovative technology from startups in this sector. The problem is that entrepreneurs encounter complex procurement requirements and slow decision-making processes only after much has already been developed and choices have been made, says Daniel Persson, head of Amyna at Ideon Science Park in a press release.
The background to the collaboration is that the need for new technology in defence and security is increasing, while many startups experience difficulties entering the sector. According to the press release, the industry is characterised by extensive regulations, procurement processes, and lengthy decision-making paths, making it challenging for smaller companies to go all the way from innovation to business.
Through the initiative, established companies and innovative firms are to meet earlier in the development process. The idea is that technical solutions can then be adapted to the industry's requirements from the outset, which can reduce obstacles in later stages.
According to the parties, the collaboration will also create new business opportunities between companies in the ecosystem and provide smaller firms with better conditions to navigate the defence sector's requirements and processes.
