In a press release, the Ministry of Defence states that the government, in a bill, proposes amendments to the Security Protection Act to ensure the Swedish Armed Forces' need for security-vetted conscripted personnel and that the security vetting is conducted in an efficient and appropriate manner. The proposals entail that:

- The Swedish Armed Forces (Försvarsmakten) alone shall be responsible for the security vetting of conscripts, including in connection with enlistment, - those who are considered for enlistment in basic training with conscription, and those who have completed basic training with conscription and have subsequently been assigned to wartime positions within the Swedish Armed Forces, shall be exempt from the requirement for consent to register checks for security vetting in security class 3, and - those who are assigned to a wartime position in a security-classified role within the Swedish Armed Forces shall be considered to participate in the security-sensitive activities, and thus be security vetted, for the duration of the wartime assignment decision.

The bill also proposes amendments to the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods regarding the licensing and supervisory responsibilities for the National Defence Radio Establishment (Försvarets radioanstalt).

The amendments to the Security Protection Act are proposed to enter into force on 1 October 2023. The amendments to the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods are proposed to enter into force on 1 July 2023.
