– It feels very exciting to continue driving Campus Total Defence forward, and very thrilling to be based at the Swedish Defence University in Stockholm, where I am now employed at 20 percent as a rector's advisor, he says in a statement.
The steering group is responsible for the organisation's budget, direction, and follow-up, and gathers representatives from several Swedish higher education institutions as well as the Swedish Armed Forces and MSB as adjunct members. A student representative from SFS also participates.
Johan Schnürer highlights three central focus areas going forward: establishing sustainable research networks, developing collaboration between academia and total defence actors, and identifying relevant research areas and funding sources.
Behind Campus Total Defence are, among others, the Swedish Defence University, Luleå University of Technology, and Örebro University. Previously, the government decided to support the initiative with 30 million kronor over three years. So far, 32 Swedish higher education institutions have joined the collaboration, which aims to strengthen education and research for the needs of total defence.
