The steering group is responsible for the organisation's budget, direction, and follow-up, and gathers representatives from several Swedish higher education institutions as well as the Swedish Armed Forces and MSB as adjunct members. A student representative from SFS also participates.
Johan Schnürer highlights three central focus areas going forward: establishing sustainable research networks, developing collaboration between academia and total defence actors, and identifying relevant research areas and funding sources.
