Saab has today showcased the first Saab 340 AEW surveillance aircraft to be delivered to the Polish Armed Forces. The aircraft displayed in Linköping is one of the two that Poland has ordered and is equipped with Saab's Erieye radar, according to a press release from the company.

The country's Ministry of Defence has ordered two aircraft with a contract value of 600 million kronor. The contract period is 2023 - 2025 and also includes ground equipment as well as logistics and support services, as previously reported by Försvarssektorn News.

- We are proud to provide Poland with this important capability and we are moving quickly towards the delivery of the surveillance aircraft to the Polish Armed Forces, says Carl-Johan Bergholm, head of Saab's business area Surveillance in the press release.

Saab 340 AEW in combination with ground equipment provides the user with a detailed situational picture that can be used in both civilian and military missions, such as air surveillance and rescue operations, the company writes.

The ordered aircraft will be in service with the Polish Air Force within a few months and will strengthen our capabilities, says Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
