Saab Signs MOU with ICEYE
Saab and the Finnish space technology company ICEYE have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the integration of satellite-based radar data into Saab's command systems. The collaboration aims to develop and demonstrate how ICEYE's Synthetic-Aperture Radar (SAR) technology can be used to enhance situational awareness and decision-making in military operations.

– Saab's integration with ICEYE data will provide real-time high-resolution images through clouds and darkness, enabling comprehensive surveillance and reconnaissance for faster and more informed decisions in complex operational environments, says Carl-Johan Bergholm, head of Saab's business area Surveillance.

ICEYE develops and operates satellites equipped with SAR technology for Earth observation and delivers radar-based data for applications in defense, security, and disaster management, among others.

– It is crucial to stay ahead, and effective situational awareness is a key factor. We are combining ICEYE's SAR technology with Saab's command systems to explore new ways to enhance surveillance and protection, says Pekka Laurila, CSO and co-founder of ICEYE.

The initial focus of the collaboration is to explore and demonstrate the integration of SAR data in multi-domain operations. According to the parties, this could provide enhanced capabilities for space surveillance and protection of critical infrastructure.
