Saab has signed an agreement with German naval company TKMS (ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems) to equip and integrate systems in four new frigates of the MEKO A-200 DEU class for the German Navy. The order value amounts to approximately 8.7 billion Swedish kronor.

Saab states that deliveries are planned for the period 2029 to 2032. The agreement covers composite structures, the naval combat management system 9LV including fire control systems, and sensors.

The frigates are to be equipped with the long-range surveillance radar Sea Giraffe 4A Fixed Face, the lightweight multi-function radar Sea Giraffe 1X, and passive sensors, according to Saab.

"It is with pride that we continue our long and strong relationship with Germany," said Michael Johansson, President and CEO of Saab, in the press release. He states that the deliveries will significantly enhance the navy's capabilities in air, submarine, and surface defence.

The agreement also includes an option for the integration and equipping of additional frigates.
